National Burial Index
FFHS is an international organization, established in 1974 in the UK as a non-profit charitable company.  It is conducting the transcription and computerization of Burial records mainly by members of the Federation of Family History Societies throughout
Britain. You can also contact the local Family History Societies for more details.

Deaths in Yorkshire Newspapers
Transcription by Jeff Knaggs of selected of newspapers covering the entire county published in the first three months of 1901. Beginning with lists of people who had died just before the 1901 census. In the second phase of the project, Jeff is extending the date range forward and back, selecting the most useful newspapers first. This is an open-ended project that will continue, quite slowly, over the coming years.

The Incorporated Church Building Society archive includes over 15,000 files relating to applications by parishes for grants from the Society. The earliest file is dated 1818 and the latest 1982.

Road Map of Seventy Miles About Sheffield
Pawson & Brailsford's Road Map of Seventy Miles About Sheffield covering North Derbyshire (as far south as Ashbourne), and parts of Cheshire, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire. The original must have been produced some time between 1893 and 1912.

Historical Buildings & Places to Stay

Studley House Farm
In times past, it would only have been the aristocracy who could stay in a historic 19th Century farmhouse in beautiful countryside, on the site of an ancient Royal Forest, and close to what is possibly England's smallest stately home - a veritable English Chateau. But today you can enjoy this same privilege at Studley House Farm in the North Yorkshire village of Ebberston, away from the bustle of everyday life.

The Bar Convent, York
The Bar Convent is the oldest living convent in England, established in 1686. It now offers a variety of award winning facilities for the general public, businesses and historians alike. There is a fascinating museum bringing the history of the Bar Convent to life. The beautiful chapel is open throughout the day and serious research students may apply for access to the extensive library & archives.

Harewood House
Harewood House, home to the Queen's cousin, the Earl of Harewood is set in spectacular grounds, which include formal gardens and gentle woodland walks.

Holmfirth
A complete guide to the town of Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, where the well known TV series 'Last of the Summer Wine' took place.

Thomas Chippendale At Harewood
Chippendale was employed to design much of the furniture in the House, the house finally became habitable in 1771.
